#58231 Thoughts on storing car outside

Posted by EricTMah on 27 July 2016 - 02:03 PM

The car is being stored outside in my driveway.

After plenty of research.  I will be putting stealies with sh!tty tires, fuel stabilizer, lots of dryer sheets in the car, engine bay and exhaust tip(rodent deterrent), Silica desiccant pkg throughout the interior(keep moisture from building), battery removed and on a trickle charger, oil, brake fluid and anti freeze change, wheel chocks and the car cover(I'm sure I've missed something on my list).

I will be clearing the snow off the car whenever possible and removing the car cover to air out.  I will not be starting it at all.  After some research, its better to store it correctly and not starting in between.

I've read many people doing this outside in Canadian winters without any issues at all.  I also have an advantage of a sloped driveway for better drainage and no collection of snow or water directly under the car.

Welcome to C9.

Fun little project.  I say if you have the time, go for it.

lol  You'll have to pry the XRS from my cold dead hands ;)

That's the reason we went with Kia.  I research the s*** out of things I purchase.  The kia came out on top for it's price range and size.  I'm excited for the kia, but it ain't no XRS :D

Holy hell! You are practically giving this stuff away.
If only I was closer and had the space for a project like this :(

Get the cts. Especially if you're planning to keep the XRS.

Would be nice to have a pure luxury performance vehicle if you're keeping the XRS.

And I'm not a fan of vw

#56553 Who has suggestions?

MOTM might be tough as there's only the same people posting. So maybe a photo of the month? Then winner gets featured on a banner or something.

That way people are more involved with submitting photos, voting and keeping score.

Didn't we used to have a 10th gen section that was somewhat active?

Possibly just adding new sections as new generation corollas are introduced.

Possible have more key words added to Google search to include 10th gen and newer corollas

I've read the same thing about the teins sagging. But I haven't had an issue yet.
They've been on the car since 2005. I don't drive my XRS much anymore. She only has 150,000kms now

Nice! Committed to the spoilerless look ;)

#56224 My spoiler is loose

Yours does look really nice and clean without it.

I was going to do the spoiler black with the car being pink. I'm not dipping the car until next weekend so for now I am leaving it off to see if I get used to it :-/

That would look good.

But if you wanted to keep the spoiler off. You could black out the back Toyota emblem and find yourself a set of black 1st Gen altis tails. That'll give you that nice contrast between the pink and black

Got my Bluetooth obd2 adapter in the mail last night and installed Torque Pro on my Android phone.

Works like a charm to see real time data and looking up cels and clearing codes.

Also picked up a dash mount holder for my phone.

Not bad set up for under $50
